I thought I was prepared for high winds. I had well heard about them--and when I first arrived there were a few 'windy' days...so I was like.. no problem at all! Nothing to be scared about at all...
Last night I was talking to a friend online--and it was approaching midnight... I was sitting on the floor using my coffee table as a desk--typing away... and well my floor started to shake. I could HEAR things out in the darkness--moving around... and some of it HITTING the side of my house... windows were closed but still I could hear the rattle of the wind...
...so I was like... ahhhhhhh this isn't cool!! I headed to bed...only to discover I had a 'rocking' bed....so sleep last night was a LONG time coming... with the sound of the wind, random things ie) plywood sheets, plastic, bits from the dump etc..... hitting my house.... well let's just say I didn't sleep well.
Despite that I got fairly early.. some new teachers moved in 2 houses over--and their water pump wasn't working--so I offered them my shower... bc you don't' really want to be 'stinky' on your first day of school... I mean that name could STICK with you...and well that's not so good! So they called at a bit after 7am.. I got up let them in.. and then made breakfast... and well stayed awake.... and you know what?! surprisingly have had a GREAT morning today at work! (perhaps I should start making this a trend?---and not the current one of dragging myself out of bed at 8ish... showering, making breakfast and dashing to work for 8:30am....)

Hee hee...
...my bed was a-rockin' last night too - and not in a good way! The wind was absolutely unbelievable. Walking to work this morning around 7:30 was pretty crazy too. One good thing about it? It allowed me to test out the house and find all the places which need to be sealed before winter; the porch is horrible!
