Canada Geese are WARM!!!!!

I am now the new owner of a Canada Goose Jacket..(Heli-Arctic to be exact)....still am puzzled why someone in TORONTO would NEED to wear one of these in the winter here! But I will be wearing it up in Nunavut! So here are some photos!!! (yes, if I look incredibly sleep deprived that's because I AM!)...Also it is incredibly 'puffy' so feel like the 'stay puff marshmallow woman'!

...the guy that helped me at Europe Bound...told me that when the jacket is like this..all zipped up....the coyote fur will 'warm' the air...so once it enters the little tunnel I will breathe in warm air...(interesting fact?)....Did I mention that the FIRST time I did this I got a tad panicky and was a wee bit claustrophobic...

Sorting........and Packing..........

All weekend I've been sorting and packing my apartment....YIKES! (after 3 years of living in the SAME spot...and being quite the self admitted pack rat...this has been rather interesting...)

Luckily (or so I thought before we started)...my mom was here as she was still on holidays from work! Saturday my plan was to pack, sort my bedroom(where my books are housed) and then vac the dust bunnies and then put the packed boxes in my closet..... so we started this job..... but then... I came out into the living room.. and mom had decided to 'sort' things EVERYWHERE in there.... so this ended up being a day of laughs..... about HER way vs. MY WAY!....

..no packing and sorting is complete without my princess crown....

she was insistant about taking down all the pictures and bubble wrapping them...but I held her off... ALTHOUGH she still tried to start that process....(i'm not sure what it is with her and bubble wrap? maybe I should be scared....!?)...

To make this long story short (altho I don't think I'll quite manage to make this short!).....we did a great job...and well have sorted a majority of my stuff.... I'm left to just 'tidy' it and sort out the kitchen and do jobs like pull DVDs out of their boxes and into a CD holder...but oh wait! who I am REALLY kidding.. I have a lot left to do!!! Just thinking about it makes me want to.....HIDE....seriously I am a bit of a hider....but I won't...I'll keep at it!

..this is 1/2 of my ECE toy collection....

This morning I got a call from my 'moving' company.... and they need to come do a visit to estimate the cost.. and make sure I'm within my weight limits... 1000lbs to Nunavut, 2500lbs to storage.... and then will book a date that my things will magically go those too places.... the kicker in that convo was... they also pack everything!!!!!!!

So that's my world...(had the day off and still feel...) extremely tired, a tad stressed, and still need to work 4shifts at day care this week!...... but also have everything ready for this 'estimate' visit.... ah.. it's going to be a fun week!!!! that's my news for the day!

Paper work, Lists, Excitement....oh MY!!!!

...going to keep this really really short...b/c thinking about everything is currently making my brain go crazy! One lesson I have learned is that regular FOOD and SLEEP help a person stay sane.....(spoken from experience) soooo I will head to bed soon! after I write you an update!

...Paper Work!?
got some information from the relocation officer and am faxing it tomorrow... so then will learn more....as I go...so far I don't really have a lot of answers to a lot of my questions...(but HEY! that's part of the fun...I actually enjoy this 'not knowing') YET the more questions I get from family and friends that I have to respond... "ummm I don't know..." makes me wonder exactly WHAT I know.... well I guess at this moment I know no matter what happens in the coming weeks I WILL be in Pangnirtung, Nunavut on March 16th, 2009......

...Housing?
so apparently the housing situation in Pang is 'tight'...that means that there is none currently available....so that's something if you are a praying person to pray about!!! there's a meeting on the 20th.. and apparently I might know more then!!

...Lists!?
...my mom had this great idea of making lists of stuff i had to do...(she even started for me... in this new journal I had kicking around) so far in the past 2 days...I've carried it around.. and checked off ONE out of MANY things I have to do....so basicly lists freak me out... but to my mom they help her... so maybe I should have let HER carry around the list she wrote... (maybe it would have made HER feel better about my current situation...) but alas... at least I won't forget some of my excited ramblings and plannings that first night I started talking about things....

..OH MY!?!
..so after a 30min convo with a friend that's currently living AND working in Nunavut...(thanks Em)... I feel like a LOT better... and less stressed and also a weird sense of OH...so that's what you were going through last june/july.........yes she had just over 2months to plan...... :) I will survive... but that's all there is from me at this point!!!!

...the Stats!!

Today I accepted a job that is going to change life quite a bit for the next year! I'm heading to Pangnirtung, Nunavut..... its a town of about 1200 people...in the Cumberland Peninsula of Baffin Island...north of Iqaluit.

...Pangnirtung is from an Inuktitut term that is loosely translated "place of many buck deer" or "place of the bull caribou".... This place is really far north!!!!! (about 40kms south of the Arctic Circle)....

Oh ya the kicker is that I have to relocate on March 16th, 2009....that's TWENTY-SIX days away!!!!!!!(hmmm a bit of pressure...to pack and sort and ahhhhhhhhhhhh)

...this blog will follow my travels and my adventures as I figure things out living in the north.....I'm sure there will be more to add............ but right now I need to dance a bit more.. and scream and possibly jump up and down.... yep I got my job....(I might be insane to be excited to head north....after all it's like 10months or more of snow...but I am....)

All I can say is.. thanks Emily..... I owe you big TIME!
