I went to visit the Tapestry Studio today... Right now the weavers are working on a 10x6 weaving that will be displayed during the Winter Olympics in Vancouver!! It's pretty amazing to get to see such an amazing piece be worked on!!!
Below is a photo of David Cochrare, a weaver from Scotland who came to Pang to help with this amazing project.... he flew out on Saturday (and for 6 weeks +) I kept saying "I'll drop bye to visit and to see the weaving... so Friday afternoon I finally made a quick stop.....

Here I am with the other weavers working on their sections of the Tapestry....Behind the work is a sketch of the design(that is transfered to the white strings of the piece) and everything is colour corodinated.

Here are some of the colours of from the tapestry....and the sketch that was used to weave the bottom of the tapestry is posted on the wall....

Lots of 'sample' and labelled colours... to be used.....

More of the samples of yarn... and a coloured copy of the tapestry...The orginal design was done by Andrew Qappik....

..there are lots of other projects on the looms....

Here is a close up of ONE of the sections of the Olypmic Tapestry!

...these colours were being picked for the sky, clounds and mountains....(for the top section of the tapestry!)

Here is another one of the weavers..... that has worked so hard on bring life to this tapestry!

This woman was making something else... I think it was a scarf...(but not 100% sure!)

I had a great visit...the weavers are planning some kind of 'showing' of the tapestry before it sent to Vancouver---the project was orginially suppose to be finished July 31...but it's running later than expected... hopefully it will be done mid-August! (I'll keep you posted)...but I'm pretty excited that I'll be able to show my mom when she's up here to visit!!.... yes that's right... my mom is coming August 2nd- 10th!! :) VERY EXCITED!!!!!!!
