Blown away....literally

..today for most of the day I couldn't see the hills!! I was introduced to Pang's wind....yikes it's strong... sometimes known to gust up to 30kms/hour...(not really sure what that means...but it sounds impressive eh?)....

This morning when I walked to work..(it's a 3min walk--literally across the road)....it wasn't so bad...when I walked back at noon for lunch....it had gotten a bit more fierce.... when I walked back at 1----I had to ZIP up the coat all the way...b/c the wind was blowing snow STRAIGHT into my face... and was enough to make me wish it was at my back.....

By 5pm the snow blowing had STOPPED---but the wind was at my back on my short walk home.... and it nearly BLEW me over... (and I'm not easy to blow over.....)

As I sit in my living room, listening to my iPod---am SOOOO loving the gift of the iPod DOCK! (thanks again Jackie and Frank, Nigel, Isabel, Madeline and Erica)....i type and hear the wind is HOWLING.... against my house....but I am comfy and secure---listening to familiar tunes.... all I need is my tv, and cable....but that will have to wait til my shipment arrives!

After a days' work....

This is my view of the sound... this will all be water once spring comes---which I've been told comes around June...the sun was just setting over the hills...... (I took this from standing INSIDE my house)

This is the BEST view of the 'pass'....it goes into the National park... and is what greats me as I open my blinds every morning...... it's GORGEOUS... (again---shot from INSIDE--so not such a great sense of quality... and I didn't use my new camera.... just my old digital...)

OTHER UPDATES:

My RED suitcase arrived on this morning's flight into PANG!!! Everything was safe and secure.... so I'm officially all 'settled' until my 'shipment' arrives.... and I have internets at home.... it is a bit slow..but I was use to slow in Toronto.. so that's ok! :) I'm heading to bed.. I'm exhausted!!!

Home Sweet Home...

I slept my first night in my house...my bed is way comfortable!!! My friend Beckie borrowed a truck last night after she was done teaching and helped me move my stuff from the lodge to my house...then took me to dinner!! (it was SOOOOO nice and am so grateful!)

I spent the rest of the night...unpacking my things...it was almost like Christmas!! (believe it or not--I had forgotten what actually WENT into those containers!!)

The airlines have located my big red suitcase--it seems like it wanted to stay in the south, it never made the flight to Montreal Monday morning! It will be sent to me but I don't know WHEN---and to be honest I know some of the things that were in it..but the rest if a mystery!!

I have the modem for my house, but didn't hook it up---went to bed instead!

All is well here in the north.... I'm SERIOUSLY loving it!!!! I can't wait to post photos---wow that's all I have to say about the surrounding hills!

Have Arrived!!!

I have arrived in Pang.... I am safe and loving the sunshine on the snow this morning!!!! Pang is beautiful...I can't wait to get some shots and post them!!

Out of my 8 pieces of luggage, one didn't make it.... my big red suitcase--the one that I packed ALL the basics just in case others didn't make it.... I'm not too worried BUT do hope it shows up sometime SOON!!!!

I'm already on the job--which is surreal but good... but mainly sorting out my housing and all the other stuff.... don't have access to Facebook(at least not at work!)...

this is just a short note to let everyone know I've arrived!! Will fill in more details soon!

Leaving on a JET PLANE.....

(well at least a first.. and after each of the 4 flights...getting into smaller and smaller planes!)

The last week has gone by in a blur....getting ready for the packing/moving company to come on the 9th was a job in itself...but after experiencing the JOY of packers...I'm not sure I can go back to the move it YOURSELF method again!

I had 3 wonderful days up in Haliburton---visiting my family...playing with my nephews, and visiting with my older brother and sis-in-law...( having lots of fun..playing stickers and cutting paper---hearing... "ok Aunt Sarah, are you ready? come play...I need you" Which was so enjoyable... also being able to use my NEW camera and get TONS of awesome shots of the two munchkins!!!!

Friday all day I was fighting something.. and I was denying that I was sick.... and THEN Saturday morning I KNEW that I had to do something about it? So what did I do?... go get my hair DYED of course..(back to natural colour...but still is shocking me in the mirror...it's been awhile (like 3-4 yrs I've been a natural gal)....)after this I waited at the walk in clinic for some anti-botics... the doc thought it was perhaps strep; and gave me some good old drugs....

After a Saturday of craziness... trying to complete the odd jobs at my apartment.. move some furniture my mom wanted to my brother's house.. and all kinds of other drama...(thank goodness my family loves me bc I'm not a fun person to be around when i'm sick...Actually i'm a big GRUMP... added the stress factor of leaving to go north to LIVE in just 2 days... well you are probably glad that you didn't see my Saturday... and I'm actually really glad those that did see me are still talking to me!!!)

At 11:30pm last night I finished packing my bags I'm flying with... all 8 of them... yep I'm a classy gal... flying with 3 pieces of luggage and 5 pieces of matching rubbermaid tubs... oh PURE class here!!!!

Sunday was a great day.... I went to church... and felt sooooo loved and appreciated... (a week ago Saturday they surprised me with a going away 'tropical themed party' complete with the limbo...(oh yes they know how to party) so wasn't really expecting something...but yes there was cake, many hugs, and many many goodbyes......

So as I sit here thinking I need to sleep because I have to be because my ride to the airport is picking me up at 5:15am... here's what's on my mind........ "if I get up at 4:45am do I have time to shower? do I want to shower before sitting on 4 different airplanes? what if I just don't sleep?" hmmmm those last two aren't such a good options I think.....

I'll try to update this once I get north....... please just be patient... as I set up internet and phone lines and all that good stuff.....Good Night!!

Goodbyes from one of the kids in my life....

Since I have heard about the job, one thing I know I am going to miss is the kids that have been part of my life while living in Toronto. Some of these kids I have known since they were born and now they are 2 or 3 or even older!!! So lately I have been spending time with some of these kids....I know I will miss them and their families as I start this new adventure in my life. Today I received a card from a little boy...it was so sweet I had to take a photo and post it for you all to see!

There is a lot going on...

let me try to explain: on the left side of the page---the girls are dancing on the side (in pink) that's the artists 3 sisters and another girl that lives on the street....

the boys are at the bottom (in blue).... everyone has the same kind of hat!!!

(included in the group of boys is the artist, the boys from across the street and another boy at his school that I also know and babysit for on occaison!)....

then we need to move onto the huge BED that I am in sleeping...(aparently that's what an almost 6 year old thinks you do in the north!!! SLEEP--or maybe he knows me better than I thought!)

in the middle there is me in front of an igloo.... and the top is the sun and stars and moon.....

pretty amazing eh? I think so! :)

14 More Days........YIKES!

In two weeks I'll be sitting writing this farther north!! (still waiting to hear what my travel plans will be.........but AM leaving on the 16th...)

So things left to do....

* Change addresses....ON EVERYTHING...
* take last of my receipts into the MS head office....
* get my tax stuff together....
* finish packing my 'flying' stuff---that's 8 pieces of luggage.. maybe more!
* sort through the last of my apartment stuff before March 9th....(when the movers come to take stuff to storage and ship a few things to Nunavut!)
* visit Haliburton---see my nephews!
* call a charity to pick up stuff I don't need....or want anymore!
* get some plates that are microwaveable....(bowls too!)
* Boots...(not sorells(have those)...but another pair.... of warm winter boots....
* visit friends...
*sort papers on my desk......
*go to Burlington to get my Camera.....(Sue we need to figure out a time/day for this.....hopefully next Tuesday the 10th in the morning works?---thinking I'll catch the 5pm bus to Haliburton after getting the camera!?--yep i'll have to email you this......)
*check in with the HR
* finish my CPR and First Aid course....(done on March 3rd!)....
* EYE appointment....


...well maybe i shouldn't have made a list....I'm really not a fan of them! Doesn't look like much...but I'm sure I left some things OUT of the list.... well 14more days.......
